The Furballs
Just two month ago when my five kittens were born, I’d wake up in the morning and melt watching them nurse with their big black mother cat Bastet.
Now that the kittens are two months old, I’d wake up to mayhem in the house. My things scattered on the floor, blankets turned into warzones, and cat bowls and litterboxes into nuked areas.

Anubis, lord of death and catpoops
At two months old, the kittens have started eating wet food. They have learned to use the litterboxes by instinct. And they have started to wrestle each other and parkour among furniture in the house.
Last year when their mama cat was just a kitten, she would wake me up inside my blanket in the mountains and walk on me in her cold, tiny paws.
Now a year later with five kittens in El Nido (and four in Manila), she has grown quickly into a superchill, playful, and protective mother cat.
I can’t believe my baby carnivore has grown up and birthed nine kittens in total. NINE!

Sekhmet, bringer of chaos and cuddles
What I didn’t expect was that the five kittens here would get attached to me. Since they have weaned off milk, I have been feeding them with homemade kitten food.
Now they think I’m their mother. All five of them sleep with me at night, huddled around my hair, curled next to my chest, or stretched over my throat.
After a long day at work and I’d fall asleep in the couch, they would play and sleep right next to me. When I move into my room, they would scuttle over there and sleep with me in my bed.

Isis, source of magic and catnip
In the middle of the night when I open all the windows for fresh air and continue my sleep in the couch, the kittens would move back to the couch and sleep there with me.
And every time I go to the bathroom, the five little furballs would follow me there too. One by one they would march in like we are going to have a top secret meeting.
They have no sense of personal space, I swear.
With a total of six cats now, I feel like I’m turning into a legit cat mom. I spend a lot of time making cat food and cleaning after their mess. Not to mention, the amount of claws I have to trim and fur I have to clean.

Horus, chief of kitten wrestling matches
While I have housekeeping weekly, daily upkeep of the house can feel a bit tiring, especially when I have so much work at the resort.
I worry that I won’t be able to take care of all of them when they grow into adults.
I thought, this must be what it’s like to have kids. I thought, I don’t mind having kids, as long as I’m not doing chores. That to me is the death of my free time.

Seth, director of the cat food kitchen
If I have to do chores, I’d rather be on the road, traveling freely and doing everything I want.
I still want all this freedom, and all these little felines inspire me to create businesses, help people leap forward, and make tons of money.
So one day soon I can hire a nanny for all my cats.
